UNIT Parktech unveils the world’s first floating outdoor Surf Pool: The UNIT Surf Pool!

A stationary wave pool has been developed and patented by Cologne-based UNIT Parktech. The pool is ready to be installed on a natural environmental perhaps a river or lake. This project is awesome and spots some really unhinged specifications!

Okay, so for starters, the Unit Surf Pool generates two kinds of waves; a 4′ wave for beginners and a 5’3 wave for advanced surfers, catering to whatever end of the spectrum you find yourself in. It is also has 5 different width options currently available 8, 10, 12, 14 and 16 meters. It is capable of creating shoulder-high waves by taking advantage of the natural flow of water.

How does it work?

According to the developers, fresh or salted water is pumped into the structure by the surf pool, then gravity helps to push the water down a ramp down into an area with slow moving water or still water. Then, the hydraulic pump action kicks in, and a wave is created!

The Unit Surf Pool is available for a wide range of water toys, including, surfboards, bodyboards, stand-up paddleboards, and kayaks, and its white post-modern structure is made of high-density polyethylene (HDPE).

Another good news about this product is that it can be delivered to any place in the world, as it fits in the standard shipping containers. Upon delivery, the product takes about 2 weeks to assemble and get fully operational.

This machine was created with landlocked surfers in mind. Here is an excerpt from the company’s statement on their wonderful invention.

“We believe it’s a revolution for landlocked surfers. The Unit Surf Pool needs no chemical water treatments, and when in operation processes 15,000 liters per second using less than 340 kW per hour,”

The world’s first Unit Surf Pool will open in March 2018, in Langenfeld, Germany.

It is something worth checking out!
